Located at the historic All England Jumping Course in Hickstead, Breen Equestrian is one of the most respected names in British showjumping. Led by Shane and Chloe Breen, the facility stands not only for sporting success, but also for comprehensive training, horse sales, auctions and breeding recognised far beyond the United Kingdom.
The Breen family embodies the spirit of Irish equestrian sport. Shane is widely regarded as one of Ireland’s most accomplished and admired showjumpers, while Chloe, née Bunn, comes from the family that still owns the iconic Hickstead showground. At Breen Equestrian, where top horses are trained daily and international riders come and go, stabling must meet the highest standards. It needs to offer more than functionality. It must provide a setting worthy of elite sport.
When planning a new stable complex, the decision to work with Röwer & Rüb was clear. “Only the best for our horses – that is our guiding principle. That’s why we knew we wanted to partner with Röwer & Rüb on this project,” say Shane and Chloe Breen. Their choice was influenced not only by the German company’s international reputation, but also by personal experience. During a visit to the dressage facility Forest Oaks in Lymington, Chloe was impressed by the design, craftsmanship and attention to detail of the Röwer & Rüb installations.
Two new stable wings were completed in summer 2023 and spring 2024. The team selected the Amsterdam stall fronts in a galvanised finish, complemented by matching doors, windows and gates. Together with Jamie Bennett, Röwer & Rüb’s representative in the UK, they developed a concept precisely tailored to the workflows on site. The goal was clear: durability, safety and comfort for years to come.
For Shane Breen, safety features and longevity were paramount. The new stable wings meet these requirements without compromise, combining understated aesthetics with robust construction and clear functionality. Partitions between the stalls reach a height of 2.80 metres, ensuring maximum safety, while externally accessible hay racks streamline daily routines.

Coordination was efficient, and the quality speaks for itself.” More than 40 spacious stalls now combine functionality with meticulous attention to detail. One particularly meaningful feature stands before one of the Röwer & Rüb stable doors: a bronze statue commemorating BE Golden Hawk, one of Shane Breen’s most successful horses. The entire facility continues to represent decades of achievement in showjumping – and a deep respect for the horse.
