A stable that was not simply built, but carefully developed over time – shaped by a childhood dream, craftsmanship and the desire to create a place where horses truly feel at home: this is the Muotastall.
For Ralf Suter, it all began with the passion of his daughter Tanja. As a young girl, she often spoke of one day having her own stable. Many years later, that vision has become reality: an equestrian facility perfectioned and realised by the family themselves, in close collaboration with Röwer & Rüb. Planned down to the finest detail, executed with experience and guided by a deep understanding of what horses need. “Tanja wished for this stable since she was in primary school,” says Ralf Suter. “I had the land, she had the passion. Today she is 22 years old and runs the operation under the name ‘Muotastall’.”
With more than ten years of experience as a horse owner and his own construction company “Suterholz GmbH“ behind him, Suter had a clear vision for the future stable – from the first sketches through to completion. Everything needed to be practical, efficient and sustainable in everyday use. A place for high-level horse keeping, yet economically viable. What he was looking for was a strong partner with long-standing expertise in stable construction. That partner was Röwer & Rüb.

“I already knew Röwer & Rüb from the boarding stable where we used to keep our horses. The quality had proven itself there – and it simply looks elegant,” Suter recalls. For him, it was therefore an obvious decision to rely on the German family company for his own project.
Equally decisive was the consultation provided by Flurin Cadalbert, Röwer & Rüb’s representative for Switzerland. With decades of experience, he supported Suter and his family throughout the process, ensuring seamless execution.
“Personal consultation was very important to me,” says Suter. “The result? Today we have a stable without planning errors – and I would do it exactly the same way again.”

The Muotastall is defined by numerous technical and architectural features designed to optimise daily routines. A central vacuum manure system, individually adjustable paddock areas, an underground lake-water system tempering the turnout surface, feed chutes from the upper floor directly into the stable, as well as ventilated and heated saddle lockers all contribute to smooth, efficient workflows that ultimately benefit the horses.
At the centre of the stable lies an open, light-filled aisle that creates space and a calm atmosphere. For the stable fittings, Suter primarily selected Röwer & Rüb products, including Amsterdam stable fronts, doors, barn doors, windows, paddock fencing, drinkers, feed troughs and a Solarium.
“I wanted everything to be carefully considered. The people working here shouldn’t have to improvise constantly. And the horses should feel comfortable – every single day,” says Suter.
Architecturally, tradition meets meticulous detailing: curved partitions, arched doorways, solid timber structures on the upper level and paved pathways with antique stone create a harmonious overall impression. The brick façade lends character, while the overall concept follows the principles of Feng Shui.
The Muotastall is an expression of a clear philosophy; structured, distinctive and thoughtfully designed. Horses, people and visitors alike can sense it. What began as an idea has become a place that does more than function. It creates a feeling.
