Horses have played a major role in Janne Friederike Meyer's life from an early age.

Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann was born in Hamburg and is one of the best German show jumpers. The multiple German Champion, European Team Champion and World Team Champion has been running her own equestrian centre with her husband Christoph Zimmermann, an international horse dealer, since 2016. The approximately 4.5 hectare facility in Waldenau, a district of the northern German district town of Pinneberg, offers ideal conditions for the management and training of competition horses at the gateway to Hamburg.

With gelding Goja to success

With the gelding Goja, Janne Friederike Meyer was able to continue her string of previous successes, and from 2015 onwards was a member of the German Nations' Cup teams with him several times. At the Nations Cup Final in Barcelona, the German team was also victorious thanks to her faultless ride on Goja.

Desire to have the own riding facility

Janne Friederike Meyer trained at the Friedrichshulde riding stable in Schenefeld for almost ten years. When it became too cramped there, the idea of setting up her own riding facility took shape. Together with her later husband Christoph Zimmermann, she set out to find a suitable location. The choice finally fell on a former dressage centre in the Waldenau district of Pinneberg. The couple designed the grounds entirely according to their own ideas and wishes. The 60 by 90 metre show jumping arena is surrounded by a long gallop racecourse.

Model Hamburg convinces

The Hamburg model is equipped with a sliding door, feed flaps and semi-circular troughs. The partitions are designed as contact grids to the neighbouring stalls. The project was accompanied by Röwer & Rüb employee Lars Cordes. While Janne trains the horses in Waldenau, her husband is usually away tracking down talented young horses. “Training horses myself and taking them to the top has always been my greatest pleasure," Meyer-Zimmermann says.
