The Unger facility
From a private riding stable to a sophisticated dressage and training stable.
From Munich to northern Germany
The Unger GmbH stables were founded in 2018 by Stephanie von Unger. Stephanie von Unger was born in Benrath near Düsseldorf. She grew up in Munich and in the Chiemgau area. She already discovered her love for horses and started to ride as a child. Von Unger started her professional career in the advertising film industry. In 2001 she decided to dedicate her life to horses. She came to Verden to take lessons from the renowned dressage trainer Holga Finken in Kirchwalsede. Stephanie Unger trained with Finken for a total of four years. She evolved into a successful show rider. The final move from Bavaria to the Heidekreis to Klein Häuslingen took place in 2010.
From cattle farm to horse stable
Here she found her new home on the Zwischensee estate in the beautiful half-timbered farm on the dyke directly on the Aller. The former cattle farm is surrounded by four hectares of land. Extensive renovation and remodelling work was carried out on the historic buildings from 2014 to 2018. After completion of the renovation phase, Stephanie von Unger founded the breeding and horse training company Stall von Unger GmbH. A small private riding stable has grown into a sophisticated dressage and training facility specialising in the training of young dressage horses for advanced sporting events as well as competitions and sales.
Everyone has been thought of
In the course of the conversion work, the former sheepfold from 1703 became a universal mare and foal stable. The barn still consists partly of the old wooden elements and clay wraps and was supplemented by new elements – stylishly in keeping with the rural ambience. Another stable for dressage and training horses was also built. During the realisation of her project, Stephanie von Unger was supported by Röwer & Rüb consultant Horst Apmann. Eleven "Model Hamburg" horse stalls from Röwer & Rüb are available for the dressage horses. The bright, spacious boxes are characterised by excellent air circulation. Thanks to the latticed partitions between the stalls, social contact between the horses is possible. With windows facing the stable passageway and outside, the horses have additional visual variety. Röwer & Rüb also supplied the paddocks for exercise and relaxation on the facility as well as the ring horsewalker system with seven compartments.
„Our standard is that the horses should feel comfortable.“

Gorgeous setting
Nine training and sales horses between the ages of three and 15 currently live on Unger's farm. The broodmares are kept on the meadow at the lake all year round. The youngsters are trained in a professionally built outdoor riding arena. In addition to training under the saddle in the dressage arena, all horses are regularly taken out into the countryside where they can relax on a long ride in the beautiful surroundings. The horses also get exercise, fun and games, sand baths, social contact and fresh air for their well-being in the paddock and on the marsh meadows directly behind the farm.
