Care instructions for hot-dip galvanized elements

Hot-dip galvanized steel is protected against corrosion by a zinc coating. This coating provides a robust, durable protective barrier against environmental influences, making the material ideal for use in demanding environments such as stables. Proper care and cleaning will extend the service life of your hot-dip galvanized elements and ensure lasting corrosion protection.

Why does the material need to be cleaned?

Regular cleaning and care are essential to maintain the corrosion protection of the zinc coating. In stables, hot-dip galvanized elements are exposed to particularly high corrosive loads caused by insect droppings, urine, moisture and ammonia. Without regular cleaning, these influences can damage the zinc coating and considerably shorten the service life of the elements.

How is cleaning carried out?

Only hot or cold water and metal-free brushes should be used to clean hot-dip galvanized steel. Avoid aggressive cleaning agents, as these can attack the zinc surface. You should pay particular attention to areas that are difficult to access and transition points such as connections to the floor, as these are particularly susceptible to corrosion.
The elements must be protected from soiling and damage during construction work after the stable equipment has been installed. Soiling caused by mortar, paint, concrete etc. must be removed immediately.
